The amazing team at Mozilla have added Friendbar to the list of Recommended add-ons! We’re absolutely thrilled about this – as its both a validation of our product, and because the increased exposure will allow more people to discover Friendbar. A big “THANK YOU!” to the awesome Mozilla Addon Editors, who review each and every addon that gets uploaded to the Mozilla Addon site.

In other news, Friendbar is showing up on more and more “Top X” lists for Twitter and Facebook browser add-ons. We’re clearly thrilled about this, and hope to see lots more, as each one brings more users. Heres the latest that we ran across.

Just discovered on Twitter Search that Friendbar was featured on Canadian TV channel TVA! Check it out here. Its about 2/3 of the way through the video. Looking closely we can see our brand new French UI and buttons. Very cool!!

We’re thrilled to announce that the latest version of Friendbar, v3, has just been released. You can get it here.

New features in v3:

• Your personal Friendbar homepage, that shows a real time stream of your Facebook and Twitter updates and photos. Click on a photo and browse the photos at their full resolution. Set it as your browser start page and always be up to date! Click on the Friendbar logo on the toolbar and go straight there, even if you dont set it to be your browser homepage.
• Birthday Central: a button on the Friendbar toolbar displays the number of friends that have birthdays in the next 2 weeks. Click on the button and you will be able to see who has a birthday, and then send them an ecard, announce it on Twitter, or send them a Facebook message.
• Support for French, German, Italian, and Spanish! If you are using Firefox in any of these languages Friendbar will automatically change its UI to that language. Please let us know if there are issues with the translations – we are beta testing those as well!
• A new scrolling style: “Show Newest Updates”, which only shows you the last update without scrolling.
• A delete button, that allows you to delete a specific text update if you do not want to see it again.
• Ability to hide the search box if you don’t want it
• Loads of back-end improvements for better network handling and optimizations.

Let us know how you like our new features! As always – we love your feedback, it helps us decide what to work on next and how to make our product better!

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve just launched version 2 of Friendbar. We studied all of the feedback that we received, and we hope that we’ve answered many of your requests, as well as added a bunch of new features.

We had a nice mention in an article in the Daily Mail on Stephen Fry. I love Stephen Fry, and have been following his Twitter feed for a while now, so it was thrilling to see the name Friendbar in print next to his!

In addition, I ran across this YouTube video on Friendbar, created by Davide Mazzetti. How cool is that?! Thanks Dave!

The folks at Lifehacker just posted a great review of Friendbar. Check it out!
Big thanks to Jason Fitzpatrick and the Lifehacker crew!

New Release

07Feb09

Hi Friendbar fans – we are thrilled to announce that Friendbar for Firefox has been approved by the Firefox / Mozilla Add-on reviewers, and is now freely available in the Firefox Add-on site .

Big shoutout to the Mozilla team for helping us through the process and being so patient with us as we ironed out some last issues.

We are SO EXCITED! We have already seen a huge uptick in downloads.

The most interesting stat so far has been that over 50% of people that download Friendbar remain active users. That’s a very high number and has served as the greatest validator for us that Friendbar solves a real problem and that people are benefiting from it. We have also gotten great feedback from the user community and are working around the clock to create the requested features.

Please keeep up the great stream of feedback. We will have a new release to share with you in the next couple of weeks with some great new features! Stay tuned.
